Long ago, I decided that I would suck as a parent, so I shouldn’t have kids. Knowing your own limitations is a good thing. And, of course, now HRT has taken a wrecking ball to my fertility, part of the price I paid for joining the sorority. Yet I’ve had a few mother-like moments, being godmother to my friend’s children (two of whom have transitioned themselves) and “auntie” to a few others. Sometimes, I regret not being able to bear at least one, though…but only for a moment.
