Not as such, but the issues involved were pretty clear-cut. And the implications were clear: I was getting bored and frustrated with the job, and it was time to cast about for new frontiers. So I did manage to straighten up and fly right, but, at the same time, I more actively sought out better opportunities. And one showed up, courtesy of a friend who knew of openings at the company she worked for. And I wound up doing something a lot more interesting, for 25% more money than I’d made at the previous job, plus bonuses and RSUs, which the previous job didn’t offer.

And my new manager is a lot better than my previous one was; in fact, I interviewed HER for her role not long after I joined the company, and she convinced me I wanted to work for her. I have never regretted my decision in favor of hiring her.
