This is why I tell people who are considering cross-dressing at Halloween (possibly because they're still-closeted trans women and this is an "acceptable" way for them to express their proper selves) that they shouldn't just dress as a "generic woman," but find some character for which the characterization just happens to be female, and dress as that.

When I first brought myself-as-Amy to the office at Halloween, I did this; I dressed as a classic witch, with black dress, Victorian-style heeled boots, witch's hat, broomstick, magic wand, and even pentagram jewelry. In later years, prior to transitioning, I would dress as characters such as a fairy princess (with a fitted pink evening gown and handmade wings bought on Etsy), a lady doctor (with appropriate medical equipment and a name tag identifying me as a staff clinician at "Lili Elbe Memorial Hospital"), and the goddess Athena (complete with a reasonably-authentic replica Greek spear).
