Dr. Powers reacted as I would expect a cis man to react when going on estrogen. This wasn't the case for me. My body adapted quickly to its new hormone balance. I welcomed the growth of my breasts, and, as for the changes to my genitals, I found it fascinating. Today, I am secure in my trans identity, reassured by the knowledge that my very blood chemistry is that of a woman.
So, if these young men decide that transition may help them, they may be right. The proof, though, is "in the pudding," as it were. If they try the hormones and find they don't "feel right" on them, they can stop soon after starting with few if any lasting effects. For those that do feel "right"...well, I guess we have new sisters on our hands!
